It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts hasn’t it!? I’m not the best at testing and writing about new releases as they come out, and there are so many other girls out there who have the whole thing down. But when these two new releases from Clinique dropped on my desk, I was intrigued. One quick swatch later and it’s a total case of “you had my curiosity, but now you have my attention” kinda situation…
I know Kim Kardashian is killing one half of the populations love of contour (and fuelling the other half) but for me a strong contour is a look that my face carries rather well, so I wasn’t afraid to pick up a slightly darker and warmer one-shade-fits-all contour stick and give it a good swipe. And the highlight? Well that one’s a no brainer…
As far as contour and highlight duos go, these are my all time favourites. I know, that’s a pretty bold claim, but hear me out. The contour may look terrifying, but it actually blends so beautifully and seamlessly into the skin that it can be used on paler skin tones and can also be built up for darker skin tones. One to two swipe and blends (depending on the occasion) does it for me and I use a dense buffing brush to blend it out. Ashy toned contour girls should steer clear as it is on the warmer side, but (IMO) this warmth is inevitable when you release one single shade of contour and try to please the masses (Note to Clinique: more shades soon please – I’ll buy them all).
The highlight is an easy peasy, blend with your fingers kind of affair. It’s less shimmer more sheen and looks incredible wen swiped over cheekbones. It’s one of those “impossible to over-do” products and is the perfect middle ground between icy and gold highlights – more of a pinky/nude sheen – almost rose gold – almost verging on Jemma Kidd’s All Over Radiance Highlight in Rose Gold.
When worn together this duo has the “hello cheekbones!?” effect on friends and family that I could quite literally have only dreamed of before. The amount of people I’ve accompanied on their purchase of this in the past few weeks is insane so there’s definitely something to be said for the reactions to this duo.
And if nothing else – these make me feel like a Kardashian in half the time it takes to make up a real one. Leaving more time for digestive biscuit eating and question time re-runs. So classy…
I really love the look and sound of the highlighter, great for quick and easy application too! x

This product sounds so great & they work so well with your skin! A bit scared that the contour stick might be too dark for me though… I'll have to hold out for more colours 😀

They look gorgeous! To bad they are so expensive.. 😛

This post just reminded me I have the Tarte version stashed away somewhere that I must re-discover. The Clinique one looks a little too warm for my skintone but I love the idea 🙂

I want to try these so much! They sound amazing!
I'm scared of one-shade-fits-all type products as I'm very pale but the highlight sounds beautiful, definitely needs to be swatched soon 🙂
Totally on my list of things to snag! I've been looking at them for ages and they finally released here!
May have to make a little weekend stop at the Clinique counter 🙂
I've really been wanting to try these! I have a Clinique gift card from Christmas that I still haven't used because I'm so indecisive haha. These look so lovely though!

I love the look of that highlighter but I think the contour would definitely be too dark for my deathly pale skin. If they bring out more shades of that though I will definitely give it a go.
the contour looks like an amazing colour really shapes the face
I've seen these popping up everywhere at the moment I definitely need to give them a go they sound amazing xx

I just can't get the hang of powder contours- I've tried a couple but the colour just turns out really muddy on me. Maybe I should try a cream product? This looks super easy to use.
These look so interesting! x
Such a lovely product – looks so natural as well!
Easy contouring? These sound right up my alley, although I'm definitely going to have to wait for a few more shades, the contour looks a little too terrifying for me! Your cheekbones look amazing though, so/

I've always been a bit hesitant about cream conturing, however these look really lovely! I've always loved clique – I think I may need to give them a go now!
Cream contouring seems to be much more popular now, which is great! They look so much more natural. Must try the contour stick, looks amazing.

I've seen these reviewed in a few places and they do look really easy to use, but I think the contour stick is just going to be too dark for me. I'll probably get the highlighter though, that looks fab!
