One For Dry Skins

On a recent raid of my local pharmacy I stumbled upon the Bioderma Ultra-Nourishing Emollient Balm. I’ve been trying out a lot of different creams recently for my eczema, from medicated to natural, and was getting no where. I picked this up along with a bottle of Bioderma Micellaire Solution (because… why wouldn’t you) and gave it a go.

It’s Friday, so i’ll keep the tale of me getting all excited to a minimum. But after a couple of weeks use, the eczema on my forehead has actually cleared, and the rest of my body is much calmer. Happy Suzie indeed. I have no idea what causes my eczema, but until I can find the cause – or it decides to clear of it’s own accord – this is my new best friend. If you have dry skin or eczema and you spot this around I’d highly recommend picking it up!

P.S If you have any recommendations for products that have cleared up your dry skin (not including aveeno and E45 – been there, tried that) then leave them in the comments 🙂

I need to try that because my skin is still so dry after the winter.

This sounds lovely! I use my standard Nivea Day Cream and it seems to work on my dry patches 🙂 xx

I suffered from eczema for years as I child – I don't know if it was just time but Lush Ultrabalm is the only thing that seemed to clear it up. I usually steer well away from the nauseating stench of Lush shops but trust me, this one's worth it 🙂

I unfortunately don't have Pharmacy near me that sells bioderma (damn it) but next time I go to france I will definitely consider picking it up. I not only suffer from very dry sensitive skin I also have a chronic skin disease called Neurodermatitis (atopic eczema) and have yet to find a product that will keep my flaky itchy irritated skin at bay.

Btw if you have access to Avene – I would give it a go. They have different lines for different needs but my mum swears by it!

I think a trip to the pharmacy will be happening this weekend!

When I get flare ups of eczema on my hands I pop some vaseline on just before I go to bed. Not very glamorous but works at reducing the redness, irritation and dryness.

Sounds great 🙂 I suffer from very, very dry skin that is absolutely not clear at all and I (being a complete idiot) dried it out even more to get rid of the spots… The only cream that seems to help now is Babor's Argan Nourishing Cream, but that one's pretty expensive. I think i'm going to give the Bioderma one a try as it's A LOT cheaper… Thank you 🙂

I find that the bog standard Nivea moisturiser with jojoba oil that you can buy in a big tub is quite good, although not for really bad eczema unfortunately. x

Struggled with eczema to the point that I had to be put in steroids, now I'm on a wheat and gluten free diet and it has completely cleard my face thankfully and body is also much calmer, try diprobase or cetraben literally all I use! xx

I just heard about this yesterday while looking at some skincare products. Apparently what might seem like eczema or rosacea is actually a wheat allergy. Might be worth checking that out Suzie!

For the eczema on my hands I swear by the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Hands. Literally have 3 backs ups because I use it so much. It's the only thing that has helped me. I have a review on my blog (livinginmakeup) if you're interested 🙂 x

Hi, I have being using Aveeno products as long as I can remeber but I have to admit they aren't the best when you have eczema on your face. I really recommend to put some Aloe Vera. In my opinion, I think it's more natural than other skincare and you can definitely see the difference. My cousin use to have eczema and my aunt told her about it and it did work really well. Also, has someone already told you to not put foundation on you skin when you have eczema? Your skin need to breathe. But if you really need to put a foundation, try to take one who let's your skin breathe underneath. Hope this will help you. Xx

I'm glad it worked for you! I need to add this on my wishlist and hopefully I could find it in the US. My current favorite product to use on the eczema on my face is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. It is the best product I used that cleared it up this winter.

I use Cetaphil cleanser on my face (review on my blog) as I have really sensitive skin and also suffer from Eczema. I've given up trying to find anything to cure it but rather try and stick to a good moisturising regime. I'd be intrigued to give this stuff a go though!

My son has eczema (he's 3 …), and I know it's very individual, but I've recently started putting vitamin E oil (you can get in in capsule form and just pop a capsule, or simply buy the oil itself) on his eczema flareups. It's helped immensely with the condition of his skin. It doesn't make the eczema go away, but it does help the skin heal a bit faster. I also use shea butter (pure) when his flares are really bad, or Eucerin Cream. When is skin isn't so bad, St. Ives 24-hour lotion works well. Other than that, he has a prescribed topical steroid for his flareups, which helps them go away. Not sure if you've tried any of these things (if so, I'm sorry they didn't work!), but if you haven't you might give them a go and see if they help at all. Good luck!

I use the First Aid Beauty moisturiser when my skin is super dry and it seems to work quite well. I also make sure to treat my eczema with the steroid cream my doctor gave me, as prescribed. I know steroids arent that good for you, but they work if you use them right and once the eczema is cleared it should stay away for longer.

This sounds interesting I may have to give it a go. My skin has become really dry recently and nothing is seeming to tackle it!! One thing that helped a little in soothing is some aloe vera gel!!!

I'm unsure how this would work on your face, because thats not where my eczema is; but someone came up to me in a pub once and noticed the marks on my legs, and said that I could cover my self in oil (i use Coconut) and have a 10min sunbed. Honestly, it works wonders. 🙂
Hope your ezcema goes away soon (mine tends to flare up whenever I'm a little stressed.)

If only Bioderma is in my country, I would recommend it to others. I'm glad your eczema went away. I've friends who had it before and they went to visit the dermatologist and the doctor couldn't give a specific reason why my friends had them too. Though, I've seen my friends who had it had some sort of stress in them. When they're too stress, they tend to had eczema.

I also suffered from eczema on my face and couldn't find the cause for years. Eventually I narrowed it down through ingredients to parabens. I'd even used products with parabens in for years no problem before having a reaction, the body can react to the strangest things.
