This weekend something happened that hasn’t happened in a very long time. I left the house sans tights without so much as a shiver. I feel the need to make it known that living in a victorian building by the sea and being stingy on heating does make you somewhat hardy to the cold. But still, a day of pure sunshine and temperatures of 15 degrees (celsius) is nothing to be sniffed at, so I donned an outfit I’d been saving up for such an occasion. My super long H&M cardigan, cropped Zara Jumper and (very short) Miss Selfridge shorts, had been screaming to be worn out the house, so I paired them with my Adverse Chelsea Boots from ASOS – to toughen things up a bit, y’know? – things had been looking a bit too floaty and pretty up until I added in the leather.
My Ray Bans came along instead of my usual cat eye sunglasses as another more androgynous touch. At the moment I’m finding that more boyish details are essential when dressing in the morning as my current go-to hairstyle is possibly the girliest things have gotten since my hair came down to my bum.
I think this is one of my favourite outfits of all time – it’s how I wish I dressed every day. I can’t wait until it’s warm more often so that I can brave bare legs a little more. Even if I do get some strange looks from the exchange students up the road who wear their winter coats and scarves all year round…
