One For The Diptique Lovers…

Diptique have recently added to their (nose-meltingly beautiful) candles and fragrances with a skincare line. At first I was highly sceptical, as it was always going to have some kind of scent to it, and my skin never loves anything highly scented. It was also always going to be jaw droppingly expensive. Out of the two assumptions. One was correct and one wasn’t. It is so expensive that I would have to follow in my mums footsteps of putting skincare items on my Christmas and Birthday lists, but the products don’t break me out. Major and totally un-sarcastic shocker there. Seeing as my face actually allowed me to test them out without turning into a red and angry mess I thought I’d give you the run down of my favourites and the one that now resides in the “for friends” bag…

The Loves: Let’s get started with the toner that made it’s way into my February Favourites. The Infused Facial Water smells so incredible and gives a lovely dose of hydration to my skin post cleanse. I just want to drink this stuff, but I won’t, so moving on… The Diptique Nourishing Cleansing Balm hasn’t really received rave reviews yet, but I’ve been using it solidly for a good month now and I love it (I can hear my purse weeping). I have incredibly dry skin due to my eczema and this is so thick and nourishing – think the Ren Hydra/Ever Calm Cleansing Milk, but thicker and in balm form. If I’m having a super dry skin day I ditch the latter in favour of this. I wouldn’t recommend rushing out to buy this straight away if you have a few dry patches occasionally. This for me would be an “if nothing else works and you’ve seen your doctor” recommendation.

The “Meh”: The Protective Moisturising Lotion is one that I’ll use if I know I’ll be cleansing again in just a few hours and my skin isn’t too dry. When applied it feels super hydrating and leaves my skin looking super glow-y, but the long lasting hydration properties just aren’t there, and if used on a bad skin day my forehead will be a dry flakey mess by lunch time. Oilier skinned gals might get on better with this, but for me I wouldn’t consider re-purchasing.

& The “No Thank You’s: The Multi Use Exfoliating Clay can be used as a mask or a quick scrub, depending on how you feel. It has tiny (and I mean tiny) exfoliating beads and a little does go a long way. I like the multi use function and a gentle exfoliation is always better than a harsh scrub, but it just didn’t wow me, and at £44, it’s quite possibly the most expensive scrub I’ve ever tried.

TLDR? It’s pricey, there are a couple of real goodies if you desperately want to try out the range. But the selection is so small there definitely isn’t something for everyone. Oh, and it smells awesome. The End.

Although Dipqique make beautiful candles I'm not sure what makes them qualified enough to make skincare that I'd trust with my unruly skin!

It's lovely to see you being so honest about all the products though, the meh's and the no thank you's!

I love the sound of the cleansing balm, but my skin is pretty oily so I'm not sure it would work for me! x

Haha, love that you added a TLDR. (not that I didn't read it, just like you are reading mind haha) Anyway, I agree that the smell is amazing but it is not working for me so that is a bummer

It's so expensive.. I will continue to use my TBS and Lush skincare since I don't have a reason to splurge on expensive skincare.. I like my routine right now.

I adore facial sprays, so that would be the only one I'd look at purchasing if I were in the market for it (the skincare isn't out here yet, plus the price is a shocker). Like others have said, I'm not sure that I trust their skincare expertise enough to invest. Diptyque, are you reading?
