New Hair Resolutions

Remember my hair dilemmas post? That one where I was desperately seeking alternatives to chopping all of my hair off? Yeah, it happened anyway. Even my hair dresser was so nervous it took her two go’s to actually get it short enough. I’ve had my hair like this for a good couple of weeks now, and its been a whole month since the first chop. Yes I do get hair envy when I see girls with amazingly long hair, but I think a more mid length style actually works better with the way I dress now. It’s also very Jenna Coleman/Lily Collins which I’m absolutely loving. To get the most out of it whilst it’s still in it’s freshly cut phase, I thought I’d put together some new hair resolutions:

French girl hair: Not many people know that I have naturally wavy hair. When I was younger it had quite a curl, which has now relaxed into a natural surfer girl wave. Sounds appealing on paper, but it’s pretty much unbrush-able and doesn’t go with every look I throw together. However for day to day casual events it works nicely and, because of the “no brushing” rule, is seriously low maintenance. I’ve always loved the natural, mid length french girl hair that appears all over my tumblr feed, so with the new cut this year my aim is to embrace the natural look a bit more.

Call the hairdresser every four months (at least): I once went two years without speaking to a hairdresser. My hairdresser does, in fact, bring this up every time I see her. In 2012 I saw her once. In 2013 I saw her three times. This year depending on where I decide to go with my cut, I’d like it to be more. My hair has been in much better condition since I’ve started seeing her more regularly and we’re also at the stage where we both really get what I’m going for, and going for the chop is a really positive experience.

Try out new styles: When my hair was really long I did get annoyed that I couldn’t do a lot with it because there was so much of it. At the moment it’s at that awkward length where I’m almost having the same issue, except the saving grace is that I have a lot more volume. This makes it easier to pin up and far quicker to style – making curls less of a chore. This is probably a good thing considering a top knot it out of the question!

Don’t skip on the washes: Embracing my natural hair gives me a legit reason to go to bed with slightly damp hair – it might be quicker to style but it still takes an age to dry naturally. This means that I can squeeze in a quick wash late in the evening when I wouldn’t have had time in the past. I really do hate dry shampoo too so this definitely needs to be a new thing.

I’ll report back with a hair update soon on what my next plan of action is – shorter? longer? fringier? Who knows. But just incase you’re wondering what to ask for with a cut like mine, I asked for a fairly blunt cut with just a few layers at the very end and a slight graduation at the front. Countless photos of Lilly Collins don’t hurt either…

I've had my wavy hair this length for a few months and I agree with you on the whole unbrushable part! Looks gorgeous, Suzie! x

This hair length suits you so much! I always want to chop it to a blunt mid length like this but I've only just grown my hair long and seriously hated it when it was short! I have the same wavy hair problem as you, but where my hair does have length it's pretty easy to maintain. I only brush it before washing! xx

Haha, I just traded in my waist length naturally wavy hair for hair the same length as yours. Its so liberating! Less work, less time to dry and looks amazing with a bit of a curl 🙂

I love this length so much on you! It just looks lovely! My hairs naturally wavy too and I'm far too good at embracing it so since I've had my own hair cut I'm making a conscious effort to style it regularly!

This hair length really suits you! I just cut mine from below the breasts to a bit short than yours and I'm loving it. Not as high maintenance than short hair for every day and long enough that you can curl and style it easily.^^

I was going to comment that it is very Lily Collins-esque! I'm actually thinking of dying my hair her dark brown with auburn hints color (but not for a while!). I love that length hair but I'm still too attached to my long hair to pull it off. It looks amazing on you!

I've been having the urge to cut my hair shorter, especially since Phoebe Tonkin had her haircut and I just love her and want to look like her, haha. I haven't gone short since I was 15, and I'm 22 now. I think I'm gonna wait until it at least gets closer to spring since I can't deal with the cold weather on my neck.

I have very similar hair to you apart from I am trying to grow mine. A tip I like to do to stop it getting too knotted is put it in a French braid at night. This helps keep the loose waves and doesn't make it too knotted (if you are anything like me and wriggle around a lot!) xxx

i recently cut all mine off, much shorter than yours, but have regretted it recently due to the amount of long hair envy I get! I do miss my top knots too, but actually short hair is definitely easier and quicker to wash and style.

However, after having dead straight hair, definitely embrace the waves – I'd kill for those!

Hair is one of the basic compounds of a good look. Taking care of it should be your everyday ritual. I am always looking for the natural products, because initially I am opposed to all kinds of chemicals. I use herbal shampoos, oils, eggs, yogurt and many other products as external remedies. In the same time, I consider my nutrition and fill my eating plan with useful foods. Besides, in autumn and spring I try to take additional vitamins. Recently I have found a nice nutritional supplement, which is most natural of all I have tried before. It’s Hair Gain Formula, manufactured by Military Grade. Together with it, all other actions which I take provide perfect results not only for my hair, but also for my skin and nails.
