At the beginning of the month I picked up the YSL Youth Liberator Foundation after hearing nothing but good things about it. This automatically makes me feel slightly sceptical, even though I haven’t tried a single product from YSL that I haven’t loved. Thankfully that’s still the case as I hate to ruin a good run.
After much deliberation I’ve come to the conclusion that this has to be my second favourite daytime foundation. Why? YSL Touche Eclat still reigns supreme in my world, especially with my crazy dry skin I’m currently sporting. But once my skin returns to it’s normal self, or even better, it’s slightly oiler self in the warmer months (am I the only one that likes to have slightly oilier skin?) then this will be a winner.
I have the shade B30 which is a good match for my current grey/olive state and apply it with my real techniques stippling brush. It has quite a build-able formula but I find it can look too much when built to a medium finish on extremely dry skin. But a little? A little can still do wonders for your skin, I apply a really light layer and use concealer where I need it, giving a beautiful luminous glow, correcting any dull, grey tones and still setting to an almost satin finish. It’s amount like a more glow giving Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk but with added SPF, so it’s a much better daytime option.
So to round up? If you like the G.A Luminous Silk then you’ll probably like this. If you want to see it in action then click here.
The bottle is so gorgeous!
I think I'd prefer a bit of a higher coverage though..

This for me is without a doubt the best foundation I've ever used. Pricey – yes, but worth every penny! Have an amazing new year and all the best for 2014 :o). Xx

This is my absolute new favourite foundation! Although I try and use it sparingly as it's so expensive : (

I want to give this a try but I find most luminous foundations slide right off my oily-combo skin!

I never tried GA Lum Silk before because I'm always worried that they may not have my color since a few people said the color range for darker skin tones is effy after shade nine but it's on my wish list! I've heard so many good things about this foundation has well and I'm always worried when a product is hyped up too! You just never know if it truly deserves to be "hyped." One question, do you think this works well for sensitive or oily skin types? I don't have dry skin.

Nice review, would like to give this one a try then! I have dry patches on my face as well now, and I do like it better when my skin is slightly oilier too. Much easier to work with, I think. xx

I've heard great things about this foundation, is it better than the concealer?

I've also heard wonderful things about this foundation! I don't know why but "youth liberator" in the title almost puts me off but the finish looks absolutely lovely. Thank you for your review!

I've heard so many good things about this foundation. I'm tempted to try it out for myself but it's hard to justify the price tag when I have foundations that work perfectly fine for me. The packaging is just so beautiful though!

I really like this but find it can be a teensy bit too much for my oily skin so I think the GA one will be a bit better!

At first I wasn't too sure about this foundation but I've finally decided that it might be love, plus the packaging gets me every time it's so luxurious though I wouldn't expect anything less from YSL 🙂
