It’s not exactly a secret that I’m not a pro when it comes to eyeshadow. The lack of pretty coloured powder featured on this website is testament to that. After a good three years of fitting into the “beauty obsessive category” (which brings me to realise I will have been blogging for three years in 2014 – holy crapola…) I’m finally getting to grips with the whole more than one shade, defining and shaping deal, about time, I know. But when a one shade wonder comes along I cant quite help but revert back to the basics – enter Bourjois.
When my lovely lady Luce popped up a post on the Bourjois Colour Edition 24hr Cream to Powder Shadow (I’m never saying that out loud in a video – I can’t speak at the best of times) in Prune Nocturne I couldn’t help but watch as it fell into my basket on my latest trip to boots.
I’ve seen the texture of the shadows divide opinions a little, but I personally like the cream to powder feel of this one and find it surprisingly easy to work with. I use my ring finger to pat the product on to my lid and the product transfers from tip to lid better than a lot of other cream to shadow powders. I then blend it in with a Mac 217 before it sets. It blends out easily and gives a warm smokey gradient from the lash line upwards. Easy everyday autumnal eyes. (Excuse the lack of full eyelid shot here – I have some serious eye eczema going on!)
If you wanted to smoke it up even more you can run the product under the eyes. For me this technique is a one way road to droopy dull eyes, so I keep the lower lash line clean, and if I feel the need to smoke things out further? Well, that’s where MACs Smut eyeshadow comes in. Yes, I know, a second shadow?! But bear with me here. Tucked into the outer corners of the crease, it adds a little extra depth to the eye and lifts everything up a little, perfect for taking one shadow from day to night. Not that that’s happened yet, I’ve been off work so the most action this look got was a trip to Tesco, but rest assured it lasted (on my currently super dry eye lids) and stayed put for a good four hours – then I decided it was time for a face mask. As you do at 3pm.
I love the texture and formula of these, and they feel great on the eyelid! Lovely look will try and recreate something similar :o). Xx

I love the colour however the other ones I've tested in stores I've not been a huge fan of the formula. Much prefer the colour tattoo's.

This is a gorgeous colour. Can I ask on a side note what you're doing about your eye eczema? I'm also suffering with it at the moment but anything I'm putting on just seems to be making my eyelids more dry and flakey (lovely!)
Very pretty .. Loving the sound of these Bourjois Colour Edition eyeshadows and I think I will definitely be picking up a few on my next trip to Boots 🙂 xx

I was sent one of these and liked it, but definitely don't think they're as good as the maybelline alternatives. This is such a pretty colour though!

I've heard that the texture of these is similar to those Chanel cream shadows. I've been swatching this shade a few times in store and it looks lovely on you, you may have just convinced me to pick a little pot of this up soon x

This is a great color. I love how plum colors are really big in fall, and can be made to work with any eye color. I wish they sold the Bourjois brand in the states though.
