Every November I seem to rediscover my love of a bold lip colour, last year I was all about the purple vampy shades and spent a small fortune on lip products in preparation for the upcoming trip to Paris and Christmas parties ahead. Fast forward a year and absolutely nothing has changed except the shade choice. Nothing. Even Paris is still on the menu. But more on that one later…
This year it’s all about the reds for me, mostly I seem to be gravitating to darker, more vampy reds. But on one very drizzly day, post boring bank meeting, I decided to add a hint of sunshine into my day and might have had a little splurge in Space NK. I instantly gravitated toward the orange toned red that is the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Red Square. Call it the lip sister to Essie’s Meet Me At Sunset. I know I blogged about the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick last week which is very similar in colour but hear me out on this one:
Easy to shape: The crayon/pencil application is far better than a lipstick bullet for precise application. This means I can actually make my almost invisible top lip seen in my videos *fist pumps the air*.
It doesn’t move: Seriously, I’m a messy eater at the best of times (the food marks on our beautiful sofa accounts for this *cries*) and this stuff didn’t move at all after I ploughed into breakfast. This is great for wearing to work, as my days are so crazy its unlikely you’ll ever have the chance to re apply anything. The formula also seems to start out quite creamy, before setting to a matte finish. As a result this one never seems too drying on the lips, basically making it the perfect matte lip product for winter.
Being the girl who’s slightly allergic to lip pigments (small face rash after long periods of wear – I won’t go into too much detail), you know it’s love when they appear in this little space. But now the question is – which other shades do I need?
