There’s no doubt that Navy is having a bit of a moment this Autumn, with a certain Essie polish leading the way into the Navy revolution. I’d never been a fan, even when seeing it on other blogs, but when I began digging through my stash of laquer for an autumnal nail edit – Nails Inc Motcomb Street caught my eye once applied to the nail.
Is it black or navy? Puzzled looks appear once friends and colleagues go to compliment it. It’s such a dark Navy I didn’t even need to take it off for my Wednesday Adams outfit on Monday. Similar to Essie Luxedo in terms of being wearable and super chic, whilst adding a little more than your basic black, it feels so sophisticated and hasn’t clashed with a single item of clothing since I applied it last week. I’m particularly fond of the way it looks with my nude Zara jumper (pictured above).
As for wear time, Nails Inc are always fantastic when it comes to longevity. With a top coat this one went chip free for a good five days before I got stressed at work and peeled it off (i’m the worst person for testing polish wear time). I prefer to keep my dark nails super shiny with my Seche Vite topcoat, but I’ve seen matte navy finger tips recently that really do look amazing, so there’s room to play around with the finish too.
The best bit? I got it free with a magazine last year (I’m thinking the Cheryl Cole issue of Glamour, December 2012? *magazine nerd alert*) – don’t worry it’s still available to purchase! Free nail polish and the realisation that my mum was on to something when she preached about navy being better than black. She’s always right, damn her…
