When my parents left for New York I sat down in front of the Sephora website and whittled my extensive U.S wish list down to a fair few products. The Josie Maran Watercolour Cheek Gelee was at the top of my list and after much imaginary beard scratching, I decided the shade “get away red” was the one for me.
On application it’s sheer, but build-able and the pinky-red shade gives a natural flush to the cheeks. I find this one’s best applied with a synthetic brush for more even coverage – for me this is the Real Techniques stippling brush which blends the product perfectly. It’ important not to go overboard with this one as it has amazing staying power – product over-load is slightly harder to undo than normal, but don’t sweat too much, a bit of blending with your foundation brush can often help the situation.
In the photo above I’ve applied a light layer, but it can be built up with a brush or fingers for a more pigmented look. The cream/water formula gives a lovely healthy sheen, and if you’re a fan of the dewy look this is definitely a blush that helps to add a dewy glow to the cheeks. It can also be dabbed onto the lips as a stain if you’re in need of an emergency lip product, so it’s even multi purpose. If you’re off to the states, or you have a friend who you can rope into taking your own extensive wish list, then pop this right at the top of your list!
