The Makeup: Minimal Makeup Musings

I’m not a whizz when it comes to truly minimal makeup, I can make it seem that way, but honestly I use about thirteen different products before I get to a level of minimal that i’m content with, and hey, that’s okay. I’ll just leave Five Product Faces and anything below to Anna, because she’s the boss when it comes to the real minimal makeup. However I did have to give myself a little pat on the back yesterday after using seven makeup items – one of which makes for the tiniest difference, and one double step that could be completely glazed over in a “five minute face” situation.

The Base
It goes without saying that a pea sized amount of the Dr Jart BB Cream was my base product of choice. Illuminating, correcting and hydrating – this is the BB Cream of angels (in my opinion anyway). Followed up with a dab of Origins Planscription Concealer under the eye and the Collection Illuminating Concealer on blemishes and along the high points of my face – I’m ready to go. The Collection concealer can be taken out of the equation on good skin days and “oops I got up far too late” mornings, but today I was fannying about a bit.

The Cheeks
My current blush of choice has been Neon Rose by Topshop. I loved this so much last year, and it’s been shoved to the back of the stash for far too long now. This week I’ve really fallen back in love with it, as it really brightens up my complexion. Teamed with the Jouer highlighter in Champagne along the tops of the cheekbones, I’m left looking fresh as a daisy.

Finishing Touches
To finish up I gave my brows the worlds quickest filling in with the Topshop brow pencil. It’s no good for shaping but when it comes to a tiny bit of filling in, I can’t fault it. The brush on the end helps me to groom them into place really easily too. I then slick one light coat of the Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Orange Punch and lightly pat it in with my finger. It brightens up my face and just finishes everything off nicely.

Not only is this super quick and easy, everything (aside from the pencil products) is applied with my fingers, so I have another few days before a brush washing session is needed… *high five’s self*

I am yet to try Dr Jart BB cream, but I have read so much love for it. I love Topshop's blush, I use the one in 'Flush'. A great colour and easy to use.

    Have a good weekend.

I live in cyprus and now summer and high 30's temperatures are here im trying to go minimal with my make up because too much slides off your face anyway in this heat. I like that you left your lashes mascara free. All mine have dried up in this heat so im trying tk embrace naked lashes too.

This is a lovely look – you look beautiful! I'd say 7 products is pretty good, I attempted as 5 product face but its scary using so little, I'd rather slap it all on in an attempt to look minimal!

I think minimal makeup is a quintessential part of summer and you've got the look down! While it may not be "5 products or under" it's still a simple and effective routine.
