The Sunday Post: My Second Other Half

I love my boyfriend dearly, but long before he arrived on the scene I actually already had my “other half” – not quite how you’d think – my best friend Megan literally fits the cringe worthy term of BFF. I’ve known her since she was born (being a whopping 6 months older an’ all) and although we are quite literally polar opposites – if we were words we’d be a nice little pair of complementary atonyms – we just click. Yesterday I saw Megan for the first time in TWO WEEKS. Crazy. She recently moved in with her “second other half” and now lives an hour away from me. This is a huge difference considering we’ve lived round the corner from each other for the past 21 years. Our crazy work schedules had kept us appart but magically this week our days off collided and catch up lunch at the Beach Deck in Eastbourne was on the cards.

We had a nice long catch up over pizza and burgers, before demolishing a warm chocolate brownie with ice cream. If you’re in the area and fancy a bite to eat this place serves up a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu and sports gorgeous see views and a beautiful interior – even down to the detail of your receipt being served in a shell with a beach rock paper weight. What would I recommend from our lunch? The brownie wasn’t the best I’ve had (still good though) but the sweet potato fries were right up my street – they also serve mussels and fries – one of my all time favourite dishes!

After a manic week, a big catch up with my female sole mate was more than needed and a girly sleep over at her new place is definitely on the cards. She has also promised to let me have a snoop, camera in hand, around the girl side of their new room once she’s all settled in. Home made candles and MAC brushes in abundance – tell me i’m not the only one getting excited for that feature?

Life updates aside, I missed out on my Sunday links last week as I was in a rush, so really I have two weeks of links to catch up on! I’m thinking of doing an updated favourite blogs post soon though so hopefully that will make up for it…

Link Lovin’

After an incredibly stressful few weeks, my anxiety is at an all time high. So Kate’s post on her Pre Sleep Winding Down Pamper was welcomed onto my blog lovin’ feed with open arms. Everything mentioned has been added to the wish list – standing by and awaiting payday.

Into The Gloss sits on my bookmark bar on my browser alongside What’s in My Handbag and The Coveteur and is quite possibly my favourite daily read – well, one of them anyway. This week their feature on combining matte and glossy black nails had my full attention. An attempt at these will be commencing shortly – i’ll come back later this week if all goes accordingly.

A blog that very rarely gets a mention on here, but is another of my all time favourite style blogs, is Kayture. Whether i’m looking for style or high end makeup inspiration this is one of my go to’s. The photography is just stunning, as is Kristina herself, and she’s recently delved into the world of bangs – or fringes to you and me – I have major hair (and face) envy. This week I’ve been gawping at her photos in front of the Eifel Tower – this little lady does Parisian style that I could only dream of pulling off!

I’ve saved the best for last with this one – A Beautiful Mess (one of my favourite websites dating back to when I first started my blog) are launching their first app! Due to be out in the next few weeks as long as everything goes to plan, the app can be used to add illustrations and frames in true ABM style to your instagram or blog photos. I will have to restrain myself from letting the app take over all blog photos!
