There’s nothing I love more than the “I’m never taking this off” feeling that comes with a well thought out new purchase and my new love is just that. I’d wanted a bowler hat for a very long time now and was starting to have a small internal panic as spring drew in and they started to filter out. I managed to hunt one down (okay, exaggeration – I knew they were in stock) in Topshop and haven’t looked back.
The thing I love about it is it works ridiculously well with my standard monochrome outfits and makes them look that little bit more put together, even if the chances are that the whole outfit was blindly grabbed from the wardrobe that morning. With that thought in mind I knew it would be the perfect companion for our trip to Edinburgh. I kept with the all black theme to avoid any dilemas whilst getting ready in the morning, and made sure my tops were slightly on the slouchy side to avoid the “food baby” look.
Naturally the neon clutch makes a return too. I actually only used this at night as I had a bigger bag for the day time, but it’s just the perfect something to add to an all black outfit and really does grab peoples attention.
I know what you’re thinking though: “weren’t you cold and why did you bother taking your sunglasses?” We actually had a stroke of luck and the weather was fairly mild with lots of sunshine, but my trusty leather jacket was on arm for when the crazy Edinburgh wind picked up – and yes, I did have to firmly hold on to my hat during those moments!
This suits you so nicely- I never thought I'd be able to wear a hat, just because my hair is not massively compatible with them- but this post has definitely made me want to go out and get one! xx

I have been so torn with whether to get a bowler hat or not for ages even though whenever I see a post with someone wearing one I absolutely love the way it looks, but I always think I'm one of those people that can't pull of hats. You look really lovely in it though and you're wearing such a lovely outfit too
