The Makeup: Five Product Face

Not every day is a full face of makeup kinda day, situations often arise where minimal makeup is the only option – okay, sometimes it’s not, I’m just being lazy – this weekend is a prime example. We’ll be spending a weekend at Center Parcs running through forests and learning to shoot arrows in preparation for the zombie apocalypse. I kid you not. So, zombie apocalypse prep or the more obvious Sunday morning lazing around our lodge both call for one kind of look: The Five Product Face.

Above are my top five face essentials for a minimal makeup day. First up – and let’s just get this super obvious one out the way – the Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Black Brown is the staple in my makeup bag no matter what – it helps to create a fuller and more polished shape to my brows without looking too harsh or wiping away after a few hours wear. Next up are my two favourite every day base products – the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser in Bisque and the Origins Plantscription Concealer in shade 02 medium. These two products give a healthy light but buildable coverage to my skin and have decent lasting power – perfect for a lazy day!

Finally we have two new additions to my makeup trove – the L’Oreal Teloscopic Waterproof Mascara and Clarins Instant Light Natural Perfector in Nude. I purchased both of these on a whim last weekend and have no regrets. The mascara is a nightmare to get off, but is long lasting, with natural but noticable length. I was always of the opinion that bolder and more voluminous lashes were better, but this mascara really complements my eyes and doesn’t smudge at all – yippie! The Clarins Lip Perfector is a sheer gloss which makes my lips looks super plump without being sticky or slippy – it also smells amazing, and I find it just makes minimal makeup look a little more put together.

So there you have it, no multi-tasking or heavy coverage products – just a simple sheer wash of makeup to make you feel like you’ve made an effort when you really haven’t. Sound appealing? I’m not gonna lie the added benefit of letting my skin breathe and actually being “ready in ten” (I always say it – it never happens) has me hooked…

i have laura mercier silk creme but it is quite noticible that i am wearing foundation, is the tinted moisturiser something you can put on quickly with your hands like a moisturiser or like a foundation that needs a brush? xx

I prefer to use a brush, but there have been times when I've been without one and it applies just fine with your fingers!

I use a fair few but I don't really have an all time favourite – it can depend on how tanned I am and what I'm feeling ect.
