The Guest Post: Must-Have Makeup Edit

As human beings, we’re all super nosy – that’s why lots of blogs do so well – there’s nothing better than seeing what someone slaps on their face/hair/body on a daily basis. But what about the lovely ladies you see that don’t have blogs? Say hello to my new guest post feature, it will pop up on random Saturdays and will feature the makeup bags/skincare stashes/handbags of some of the loveliest ladies I know. This week my lovely friend Ruby is showing you the products she uses and loves on a daily basis…

MAC studio fix fluid SPF 15 is my everyday foundation that I have been using for years. It provides a good coverage for your skin, with a natural and matte finish.  It lasts me the majority of the day, at least up to 8 hours!

I was given Topshop highlighter powder in ‘Sunbeam” for Christmas. I have previously used Benefit ‘High Beam’ before I discovered this. I find it a lot easier to use than liquid highlighters as you can quickly lightly dust it onto your face with a blusher brush, or your finger to add more definition. Priced at Β£10 this is definitely a must have.

Next up is my MAC blusher in ‘Baby don’t go’. This blusher is a little more pricey than the others from MAC as it is from the Pro Longwear blush range. It is a light, beige shade that with more layering can provide a bronzed look. The only disadvantage of this product is that it tends to run out reasonably quickly.

L’oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil is a perfect alternative to Moroccan Oil. It comes in a super large bottle for just Β£9.99. I blow dry my hair every time after washing, and this serum keeps it well nourished and shiny.

My two favourite lipsticks are ‘Brighton Rock’ from Topshop and ‘Lady Bug’ from MAC. I use ‘Brighton Rock’ as my daytime lipstick. It is a cheerful bright pink which is smooth to apply and long lasting! ‘Lady Bug’ by MAC has a Lustre finish and is an essential bold, red lipstick to have in your collection.

My nails often split due to the cold weather so I always use Sally Hansen Diamond Strength hardener as a protective base coat!

I have a huge collection of nail polishes but my ultimate number one is ‘Coney Island’ by American Apparel. It is a lovely, creamy pastel pink shade. I have Barry M, OPI and Rimmel polishes in my collection, however I definitely recommend the American Apparel range as they are a thick texture so only one coat is required, and they barely chip!

M&S Autograph ‘Blush’ perfume is only Β£2.50 for a pocked sized bottle and the scent is reminiscent of Dior’s ‘Miss Dior’. It is perfect to carry around in your handbag instead of a full sized bottle.

Et voila! Those are a few of Rubys favourites. She’s definitely made me feel the need to pick up yet another Topshop Lipstick (naughty Suzie) and he L’oreal hair oil. My “quick trip” to Brighton today could end up in me spending more than I budgeted for…
