The Review: Rimmel Apocalips

I’m a sucker for hype, i’ll admit it, and I was so looking forward for the Rimmel Apocalips range to come out a few weeks ago. I’d seen the Giorgio Armarni Lip Maestros a few months ago and was seriously tempted to purchase the red shade in the collection, but once I heard whispers that these would be released I held off in hopes of finding a barginous alternative.

The Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Big Bang is a gorgeous basic red that can easily be used to jazz up a minimal makeup look in an instant – perfect for unexpected outings. It gives a glossy finish – really glossy actually – I wasn’t really expecting it. A little also goes a long way with this stuff. Overloading will leave you with lipstick on your teeth for certain. It works slightly better with a matt lipstic/liner underneath to keep things under control. However you still run the risk of smuding this up your face, so no eating or clubs allowed with this one, it’s strictly a proceed with caution product. But beautiful none the less.

For a wee £6, this wont leave you bankrupt, and will serve as a non sticky, majorly pigmented lipgloss. The Giorgio Armarni Lip Maestros still seem to sit in a world of their own with their matte finish, but if you want a cheaper version of the YSL Glossy Stains, it’s likely that this will serve you well!

I'm determined not to give in to the hype with these, but if I was going to then Big Bang and Luna are definitely the two shades I would go for… *looks shifty as she stuffs a boots bag into her handbag and pretends it's not really there*

This looks beautiful but I think I'd prefer something more matte but for £6 I might give them a try 🙂

This colour's gorgeous! If you want a cheaper matte version, collection 2000 have the cream puff lip creams which are basically the same thing! I love them and they're only about £3 I think. Not as many shades but a couple really lovely ones. xx

I love these, I find that after a few hours or if you have food or a drink the gloss wears off evenly and your left with a more matte lipstick 🙂 I did manage to eat cake and drink a latte without this going up my face but I was being extremely careful and delicate for once in my life 🙂
