The Little Extras: Teacup Candles

We’ve all been there, you’re sinking into your nice comfy bed, drifting away…. Then you roll on to your side only to be sharply stabbed in the side of the head by one of the earrings you forgot to take out. You fling in onto your bedside table, and a few days later, a backing/front/the whole earring has been accidentally knocked off and is now lost in the mess that is your floordrobe.

Since buying a few new jewelry items recently – those super cheap cross Primark earrings anyone? – I decided enough was enough and I would not loose part of them again, a stand for these kinds of items first crossed my mind, but they’re a bit too fiddley when you’re half asleep! I then remembered the little teacup candle I’d been given for Christmas – it burns a nasty amount of black smog and has no smell – but the actual exterior is gorgeous, and is perfect for throwing tiny earrings and rings on. Perfectamundo!

As this was a Christmas present, I have no idea where the cute little cup is from, but last night I scouted a fair few DIY tutorials on the interwebs, and I think I might actually give it a try! I’ve got to get rid of the candle it came with after all…

What do you think? Have you ever made your own candle and, as a massive candle fiend, should I have a go? I’m also on a massive ring hunt at the moment – I like discreet and dainty so if you have any recommendations for good places to find some then let me know!

There's nothing cuter than a teacup candle – I'd definitely make one if there was an easy tutorial.

Make your own candle! When I was younger I went to a candle factory and made my own. Was so funny. It was swirly purple and pink.

haha this made me laugh, i have done the bed/earring-head/beside table/floordrobe thing many times! Just yesterday my poor husband had to go fishing around in the hoover for a pair of earrings that disappeared up the hose with a rattle!
