I’m not a big lover of new year resolutions (e.g. those ones where people plan to magically turn their whole life around because the year has changed), if there’s something in your life that needs changing I believe you can make that change at any point. But there are certain things in life which don’t happen immidiately or that it’s nice to have a starting milestone for – one of mine is definitely the latter! Last year I set myself the easy peasy target of looking after my skin. If you flick back to January 2012, you’ll be able to see that the skincare stash was a lot smaller. I thought I’d continue along the same line of looking after myself this year, and have set myself some new, but uber simple, resolutions:
Now I’m not saying I’m setting myself targets I will never reach e.g. “getting abs for summer”… For one I can’t take holiday between April and August, I’d just have abs that no one would ever see. It’s also just very unlikely that i’d stick to such a regimented routine… Cue feelings of disappointment. My first target, after two weeks of living off of take aways, Christmas dinners, and biscuits, is simply to make healthier food choices. Choosing to eat more fish, vegetables and eggs than I have recently. This is an easy goal as I don’t dislike these foods and the more of them I pile in to my little tummy, the less room there is for a Chinese takeaway. No depriving myself, just making the effort to cook guilt free yummyness!
Choosing fruit tea over standard tea is also on the agenda as they’re super good for you and will keep me warm in my chilly little office! Green tea, peppermint tea and lemon and ginger tea – from acting as an antioxidant to aiding digestion, or even just giving you a pick me up – it’s all about the tea this year.
Whilst the boy and I are both in on the healthier food choices change, we’ll also be cooking more together and eating out less – hello extra dollar! The money I save will be going towards our new little home together, as we look set to be moved out by the summer – fingers crossed!
And finally, I’m pushing the boat out here – In the next few months I want to have tried Yoga. I’m not setting myself targets of being able to put my legs behind my head by the end of 2013, but it’s an activity I’d like to introduce into my lifestyle.
So this year it’s all about making better lifestyle choices… because who doesn’t like feeling good about themselves? What ever your new years targets/resolutions/goals are, I’d love to have a read so pop the link below!
Love your sensible and achievable new years resolutions- I've made a few on my blog but I've decided to keep them simple. Have always wanted to give yoga a go so it'd be good to know how you get on!

Good resolutions, i think people aim too high with their resolutions like never eat crap again, work out everyday and never drink again. It's just not feasible but yours are really good. Have a great 2013 and my resolutions and wishes are here http://shen-moo.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/happy-new-year.html
xx
I absolutely adore peppermint tea, I find it really settles my stomach and for some reason fills me up a bit which is odd. I'm still thinking about my new years resolutions.

I really want to do this too! One of my goals is to choose more tea over coffee!
I agree with the unreasonable resolutions! Love this post π xx

I used to make resolutions that I would fail at within a week or so, but then I realised that was kinda pointless! I love seeing other peoples lists, because I'm so nosy!
Your resolutions are all things I did last year and I will keep doing next year! π I've posted about my 2013 resolutions too if you want to have a look http://noisy-rain.blogspot.it/2013/01/bring-it-on-2013.html Xx
Lots of good resolutions here and I really admire you for choosing to make reasonable goals too; so often at this time of the year many people are banging on about 'no carbs/gym everyday/lose a stone and a half' etc, which they'll never achieve and will probably give up on after a week after realising how unrealistic they are! So it's refreshing to see goals that you're genuinely motivated to do and are happy to make π
Mine are similar to yours – looks after my skin better! I have a really good, thorough skin routine so the problem lies elsewhere. I have to see a nutritionist for various health reasons and we've realised sugar, and in particular refined, processed sugars are what make my skin a mess. I'm not going to deprive myself, if I really am desperate for a chocolate fix I will go and buy one small bar. Just more vegetables and cleaner, fresher foods really and I'm fine with that as they're all yummy and make me feel better π
Good luck with yours!
Choosing fruit teas over regular tea is an interesting goal, probably one I should attempt myself as I drink SO much tea!
I really want to drink more fruit or green tea, going to try this during 2012.
I love how these are actually achievable.
Good luck!

I completely agree, there is no point making those resolutions that you wont achieve as you will end up feeling worse! That is so cute about you and your partner all the best for 2013, I hope it brings all you wish for!

My resolutions are quite similar to yours – after all this junk food I need to eat more healthily! I also want to work on my blog more and make a real effort to comment on others too xx
I totally agree with if you want to do something you can do it at any time of year, which is why I haven't gave my self new years resolutions. However one I have been battling against for a long time is eating healthier which is always a toughie as I get swayed so easily! I hoope you manage to keep up with them and good luck with yoga π xx
I really want to try yoga too, I'm in a stressful exam year and I'd love it to de-stress me!
Some of my resolutions… I'd love if you commented! π
