The Makeup: Winter Favourites

Come winter time, and easpecially during the festive season, my makeup and skincare needs do a complete 180. This year I have the joy of combination oily/dry skin… I’m telling you now – it’s not a hoot.

First things first. Oily skin. I’d rather have dry over oily skin a I just end up feeling dirty. I find the best way to combat this is to use a light powder foundation… Que mac studio fix powder foundation (or whatever it’s called now). On less oily days when I need more coverage, I reach for the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser (oil free). Having applied reasonable amount of the Clarins instant smooth self tanning primer before hand to make up for the lack of tan.

At risk of sounding like a broken record, the Origins Plantscripion concealer has been a god send with its medium coverage, lightweight and easily blend-able consistency. I look forward to dabbing this on in the morning, knowing that it won’t dry out my skin and will be a dream to apply.

For paler days when my cheeks need a warm glow, I reach for my MAC mineralize skin finish natural – helping to combat the oily face too – score! On my more natural days I apply MACs peach stock with a generous dose of lip balm underneath. Nude lip heaven!

So, now we’ve established my winter favourites, let me know if there’s anything you love makeup-wise that might help me beat my winter skin troubles…

These products look really good, especially if you say some of them are good for oily skin, which I defiantly have. I love burts bees lip balms in winter:)xo

I have winter skin troubles as well. Proactive green tea mosturizer does wonders, and somehow clears up my skin ! Plus, it smells super good. I want to try the mineralized skin finish myself.

Thanks for the recommendation! Mineralize skin finishes are great as just regular powders, or as bronzers in a darker shade.

They do them in a really great shade range, so i'm sure you'll be fine – there's definitely no negative to being pale and freckley! xx

I'm not a fan of the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser, I'm not sure what it is but I prefer the Nars one so much more, have you tried it? Mac's Peach Stock looks lovely!!
