Baby Pink vs… Baby Pink?

Last week I realised I have a LOT of baby pink nail varnishes. No, they’re not on trend, they’re not big, and they’re not clever. They are however, an absolute babe for giving your nails a break after using excessivly bright colours – of which I am most definitely guilty. So I go to paint them in a nice, baby pink – but where do I start?

Now, if you’re into the sheer side of pink, Models Own Buff Pink and Essie Sugar Daddy are definitely the ones to go with, they tone your nails down completely, but still give them that polished look. Perfect for interviews in my opinion. Another one that’s good for when you’re not looking to attract attention is (not neccesarily a baby pink but a nude pink) Accessorize “Fudge” – one of my all time favourite polishes, the last power is amazing, whilst the polish remains strong and prevents breaks. I use this for important work related events or when I’m regrowing broken nails that I don’t want to draw attention to.

Next up are my least favourites. Barry M Baby Pink and Strawberry. Strawberry is my least favourite – as far as baby pinks go, its definitely more pink based than white based. It it lovely on paler skins, but just makes my olive skin look a bit dirty. Baby Pink used to be my favourite, but in comparison to others, it’s a little bit more gloopey and takes longer to dry (this leads to smudging), not ideal.

Then we come to Revlons Pink Lilac and Avons Pastel Pink. These two are definitely more white based pinks, making your hands look lovely and tanned. They’re not as white as Essie Fiji, but if you’re one of those people that do occasionally wish it was slightly pinker, these are for you. Revlon Pink Lilac is lovely, a fraction more pink than the Avon polish and is applies very evenly, however it takes a little while to dry and can start to wear after 3 days. Avon Pastel Pink applies in streaks, it’s quite scary when you apply the first coat, as you can’t believe it will get better, but it does. Two coats and its sorted, but it’s definitely not a one coat wonder – it’s my favourite by far and I’m definitely going to be wearing it a lot over winter – am I the only one that feels baby pink is appropriate for both winter and summer?

I love baby pink on nails, even though I'm not a girly girl, it's a nice (kinda!) neutral shade!
    Lusting after the Essie shade.

That's so weird! Where do you work? I find the neutral one was the best for me at my first job when I was younger, is so discreet. xxx
