To go for the full face or be conservative… That was the question. On holiday I never really know what to put on my face in the evenings, especially in the first few days, when you’re still adjusting to the climate. Over the first few days, I went for a full face of make up (see the first image) and although it might not seem like much in comparison to the UK, but when you think about the fact that you are still sweating when you’re outside at night, it really is!
Once I got used to the constant heat, I knew what I really needed on my face, and what I didn’t. I went with the tinted moisturiser, it accentuated my tan but also protected me from the last of the suns rays before it set. I also like the fact that although it contained SPF, none of my holiday photos came back with ghost face! I used the Laura Mercier concealer under my eyes and around my nose to hide red patches – it was much lighter than the collection 2000 concealer, but also much darker as my tan became too dark for shade 3! I popped it on with the contour brush from Real Techniques, it’s not the most conventional brush but it gets in to all the small curves on my face.
I then popped on my usual collection 2000 fast stroke eyeliner, and did a mini cat eye shape! Even when I say minimal make up, I still use this, as I don’t have big eyes and this makes the world of difference! I then pop on my Maxfactor false lash effect mascara (after a quick curl with my boots eyelash curlers – they’re pretty good ones actually!) it seriously is my all time favourite. I do feel a bit like i’m wearing false eyelashes, but without the fear of having them falling off… If that’s not a winner I don’t know what is. I also had to stop using my eyebrow pencil on holiday as it was so warm the pencil was melting!
I probably would have continued this routine when I got home, if it wasn’t for the fact I’m now quite brown and I have a whole host of Chanel Mat Lumiere in my drawer to use as I can only use it when I’m tanned as I have the shade 40 Beige. (Note: I definitely saw some being sold at the airport in Tenerife if you’re a massive fan and are going on holiday soon – keep your eyes peeled!).
I love Origins and really want to try out the VitaZing, but I need to use up all my Estee Lauder one first. Can't wait for the Chanel Mat Lumiere post x
I used to think the same thing as well. My skin was okay, but for some reason, I kept piling on more makeup as if I really needed it. I'd say, just use concealer to conceal any redness and op for a powder foundation, eyeliners, mascara and a lipstick and your good to go. That also sounded simple, but when im surrounded by makeup I find it really hard to resist LOL! I love your pictures btw 🙂
Such a hard decision. But for summer, I usually go more bare.
Beauty, Fashion and Seattle | Cheap Makeup Reviews
The last time I went on holiday to Asia in the Summer, I was the same! I hardly wore any makeup because it was so humid and hot. If I did wear anything, it was always the bare minimum 🙂 xx
When i was on holiday using any makeup made me totally break out. Generally any kind of heat mixed with makeup and my face can't handle it.
I might pick up the origins moisturizer, if it's tinted it might be a good buy for me 🙂
Once I get a tan I always wear as little face makeup as I can get away with! I usually just wear some concealer, mascara, liquid liner and highlighter and leave it at that 🙂 xx
