It’s that time of the month again, when that wonderful little box turns up on my doorstep. I love the excitement of getting beauty boxes. The concept of samples is something that really appeals to me, as I’m a huge fan of “try before you buy” and (*packaging junkie moment*) the presentation really works in a way that makes you feel quite special.
The May 2012 Glossybox coincides with their 1 year anniversary, and only last week was I telling my desk buddy at work how excited I was to see what I had in store for us. I have to say, I like some of the contents of this box, but overall at first glance it didn’t hit the spot for me the way the natural box did. However, on further examination of what I disliked, this only came down to the perfume samples. They are definitely a hit and miss item, because certain scents aren’t for everyone – to be fair to them though, I received two, so for others will the same box, there is a chance you will like one.
Putting aside the perfume samples, I was pleased to see a few items that I can use when I feel like really pampering myself. To me this is one of the aspects I like in a beauty box, to discover luxury items you wouldn’t necessarily use regularly, but would use when you feel like you need a little TLC.
Noble Isle Summer Rising Bath and Shower Gel
This. Smells. Gorgeous. It’s a great size for traveling and has been instantly thrown into the overnight bag for my stay at the boyfriends this week.
Apivita Express Beauty Mask with Honey
This apparently contains ingredients that accelerate the antioxidant action. I’m amazingly excited to try this as I love a good detox, both inside and out and I think this would be great to help refresh my skin – especially as it’s has been a bit poopey of late.
Osmo Berber Hair Oil Treatment
I’m intrigued by this, I still haven’t made my mind up about hair oils – the VO5 one did very little to float my boat, so I’m hoping this one will change my mind. I’m already a fan of the packaging so we’ll just have to watch this space!
HD Brows – Brow Beater
My little card in my box actually had a different HDB item, but if I’m honest I’m actually so pleased with this brow setting gel. I’ve been thinking of buying one for my unruly brows for a while now, so this is a very welcome addition to my make up stash.
There were also two additional items in the box, a glossy box mirror and balloon. The mirror has made it’s way into my everyday bag and who doesn’t love a balloon!? It will come as no surprise to you all that I instantly reverted back to my 5 year old self, bopping the balloon around my kitchen!
Did you get a glossy box this month? I think they did a really good variety in every box (some people got a completely different box to me!) Let me know what you got in the comments below 🙂
It’s amazingly hot in Brighton, so I’m off to the beach now – toodles!

haha, im the same with balloons – whenever i get one i spend around 20 minutes making sure that it doesnt touch the floor!

I'm glad I'm not the only one! 🙂 x
Hi Suzie, thanks for not editing the pictures too much, I found this post alot more appealing without all the instagram-type effects. :)Love the blog. x
I really want to sign up for one of those monthly box product. CurlBox in particular is a company i most lucky will subscribe to.
